Punk Cinema releases its debut feature film The Gigolos in the UK today. Produced and distributed by Punk Cinema, The Gigolos opens at Clapham Picturehouse, Cambridge Arts Picturehouse, Odeon Manchester and Odeon Norwich.

Oscar-nominee Susannah York and co-star Angela Pleasence joined male leads Sacha Tarter and Trevor Sather and director Richard Bracewell at the first UK screening of The Gigolos at the Cambridge Film Festival. Asked how she enjoyed playing the client of a gigolo, Ms York replied, "It was fun - lots of fun".

Great reviews for the first UK screening of The Gigolos at the Cambridge Film Festival. Empire calls the film a "slow-burning teaser" and "witty and quietly savage". There's also endorsements from the Eastern Daily Press, the Cambridge Evening News and BBC News Online.

The 26th Cambridge Film Festival will host the first UK screening of The Gigolos on 11th July, starting the countdown to the UK release in September.
Cambridge is one of Europe's leading film festivals, with 30 UK premieres this year, including Besson's ANGEL-A, Richard Linklater's A SCANNER DARKLY and Almodovar's VOLVER. Festival guests will include Besson, Sam Neill and Terry Gilliam - we're in great company!

The Gigolos screens twice, on 11th July at 4pm and 13th July at 3pm. You can book tickets online here.

On the first day of Marche du Film in Cannes, Punk Cinema has sold The Gigolos
to Film Connection of Brazil. The film will be released in cinemas in Brazil
in September 2006.

Director Richard Bracewell has been selected as one of eight participants
in European Film Promotion's program 'New Faces in European Cinema' held at AFI FEST (3-13 Nov) in collaboration with Audi. The 'New Faces' program will showcase emerging European directing and producing talent in Hollywood. Richard will participate in the Kodak Connect program and meet senior movie industry execs during AFI / AFM.

The Gigolos will receive its world premiere at the American Film Institute's Los Angeles International Film Festival (AFI FEST), sponsored by Audi, which opens on 3rd November 2005.

One of only two British films chosen for screening, The Gigolos joins a list of films that have premiered at AFI FEST that includes Monster, City of God, Life is Beautiful, The Cider House Rules and O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Now in its 19th year, AFI FEST is the longest-running film festival in Los Angeles, featuring new films from emerging filmmakers and nightly red-carpet gala premieres. For the second year, AFI FEST is linking up with the American Film Market (AFM) to create the largest motion picture trade event in the world - where over $500m in production and distribution deals were closed last year.

"Director Richard Bracewell's feature debut The Gigolos has finished editing. The film was shot in London in 2004 and is about two male escorts searching for love and friendship. Despite The Gigolos' budget of only $500,000, Bracewell managed to attract major stars including Anna Massey, Sian Phillips and Susannah York."
